Contact Scraper ("we", "our", or "us") provides a Chrome browser extension and backend service designed to help sales professionals, recruiters, and researchers extract public contact information from web pages and documents. 

We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling data transparently. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how it is processed, and your rights regarding your data.

1. Data Minimization & Core Principles

Single-Purpose Utility:  The extension exists solely to parse and export public contact information at the explicit direction of the user.

No Background Scraping:  The extension only accesses web page content or documents when you actively click "Run Extraction". It never tracks your browsing history or runs background web monitors.

Zero Data Selling:  We do not sell, rent, monetize, or trade any personal information, extracted contacts, or browsing telemetry to data brokers, advertisers, or third parties.

2. Information We Collect and Process

A. Account & Authentication Information

Account Credentials: When you register, we collect your email address and an encrypted password managed securely via Supabase Authentication.

Subscription & Usage Telemetry: If you subscribe to a paid plan, we record your subscription status, plan tier (Free, Pro, Unlimited), and monthly contact extraction count to enforce quota limits. Payment card details are processed directly and securely by Stripe; we never store your payment card numbers or CVV.

B. Content Submitted for Extraction (Ephemeral Processing)

Webpage & Document Content: When you trigger an extraction, the visible text of the active tab or the document you submit (HTML or PDF) is transmitted securely over TLS/HTTPS to our Google Cloud Run processing service.

AI Processing: Content is analyzed by Google Cloud’s Gemini AI API strictly to return structured contact fields (name, title, company, email, phone, location, LinkedIn URL). 

Zero Long-Term Storage of Extracted PII:** Content submitted for extraction and the extracted contact results are processed statelessly in-memory and are **not retained or stored** in our databases after the response is returned to your browser.

C. User Integration Credentials (Client-Side Storage)

Custom webhook URLs, optional API keys, or third-party client IDs entered in the extension settings are stored locally on your device via `chrome.storage.local`. They are never transmitted to our marketing or analytics servers.

3. Permissions Used by the Chrome Extension

The extension requests minimal permissions required for its functionality:

`activeTab`: Used solely to access the content of the current tab when you click the extension popup.

`storage`: Used to store your user session and integration settings locally in your browser.

`identity`: Used to authenticate with Google People API when you explicitly click "Google Contacts".

`downloads`: Used to download exported CSV spreadsheets or vCard (`.vcf`) files directly to your computer.

`scripting`: Used to safely extract human-visible text from the active webpage DOM clone.

4. Third-Party Service Providers

We partner with industry-standard, SOC2-compliant cloud providers to operate the service:

Google Cloud Platform: Hosts our processing backend (Cloud Run) and AI extraction pipeline (Gemini).

Supabase: Provides secure authentication and account management.

Stripe: Provides PCI-DSS compliant subscription billing and customer portal management.

Google People API / Microsoft Graph: Accessed only when you explicitly export contacts to your personal address book.

5. Your Rights and Data Deletion

You have the right to request deletion of your account and associated usage records at any time. To request account deletion or data erasure, email us at support@idscrape.com. We will delete your account records within 30 days.

6. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted with an updated "Last Updated" date.
